Happy Early Mother’s Day!

Thank you for all you do for your little ones!  Thank you for everything you give!

Being a mother is the most incredibly insane role I have ever had and will ever have in my life!  You love like their is no end and no beginning. You have patience that sometimes overwhelms and surprises you.  You give and give and give of yourself until there is nothing left;  except you always find a way to give more!  You worry like you’ve never known worry before and yet you still find moments of pure peace and incredible joy.

When we become mothers we learn to let go of who we used to be and make way for someone completely new and completely beautiful.  We let go of our insecurities around our children so that we can be silly for them, play with them and delight in the way they see the world!  We drop our guards and love until it hurts!  We become everything we need to be and more for our little people and it changes us in the best most amazing ways!

There are days when it’s tough and yet we wouldn’t ever change a thing.  Days when we get so tired and pulled in so many different directions we feel we might split apart… but then we hear a tiny giggle, feel a tiny hand clasp our own and it refreshes us.

There are no words that can truly describe what it’s like to be a mother.  There are  no words to express how grateful I am for the day my son was born and made me a mother!

And there are no words strong enough or graceful enough for me to tell all the mother’s that I know thank you!  Thank you for all you do and all you are!  You are more than amazing!

Happy early mother’s day!

Yesterday I worked non stop from 4 am until 2 pm!

Yesterday I e mailed, I blogged, I set up sessions and made contacts.  I taught a body flow class and rushed home to eat a lunch I can’t even remember!  I picked up Linc from school, put him down for a nap and then worked some more instead of resting.

Yesterday at 2 pm when Linc woke up I decided work was done and we needed a treat!  I scooped him out of his crib, changed him and immediately set him in the car.  I bought the biggest iced white mocha they had to offer and I bought Linc his very first starbucks treat (it was like a gorgeous beautiful vanilla milkshake and I can’t even remember what is was called because the lady in front of me told me to try it because her 2 year is addicted to them!)

The two of us went to play in the sand and sip our drinks and eat cookies until we could stand the wind no longer!

IT WAS HEAVEN!

It was a brief two hours of one on one joy… no cell phone, no work, no tears or tantrums (until we had to leave).  It was just me and my little man jumping off dunes and building awfully sad sand castles.

Work/life balance is hard.  It’s especially hard right now with just me taking care of all the responsibilities.  It can be lonely and exhausting but there are moments like we had yesterday where you just stop… stop everything and find your breath and balance once more!

Beautiful bright colors, bubbles, jelly beans and swings: nothing better on a Sunday than those things!  Maybe if we add some kisses and hugs and giggles!

My session on Sunday was perfection!

A while back I asked my readers to nominate a very special someone for a mommy and me session.  These sessions are extremely dear to my heart right now and I wanted to be able to share the joy of these sessions with someone who would understand how they make my heart swell!

As mommas we are so often busy taking care of everyone and everything around us, we forget to stop and breath or take a minute just to ourselves.  Sometimes we get so wrapped up in all the wonderful and crazy aspects of being a mother that we forget to step outside the day to day tasks and really look at what an amazing bond we have with our little ones.  These sessions do all of those things:  they force us as moms to slow down and really see ourselves through our children’s eyes!

What better gift can we give ourselves or to our friends who are also mommas?!

When Sarah wrote in about Morgan… I cried!  Her words, short and sweet, struck such a chord with me~

“Hi Brooke,

I read about your giveaway and I just have to nominate my dear friend, Morgan Lemley.  Morgan is such a wonderful mother to her two year old, Avery.  Like most of us, the pressures of working full time and trying to handle a toddler has made her question the quality of mother that she is recently.  I know from witnessing her skills that she is a superior mom and would love to show her how amazing I think she is by having her win this contest.  I hope that if she wins, each time she looks at these photographs – it will be affirmation of just how blessed and incredible she really is.

Thanks for your consideration,

Sarah”

Morgan is an incredible momma!  She is fun and energetic and she can let her guard down and be goofy right along with Avery!  Their bond is incredible:  one that any little girl would be lucky to have with her mom!  Avery looks to Morgan in everything she does, even though she likes to seem tough and independent!  She is full of the best kind of sweet sass and what’s incredible is how the two of them are so much alike!  They make the same faces and laugh the same laugh!  Both Morgan and Avery are the kind of girls that make sure everyone around them feels included and comfortable!  They make everyone around them feel special!

Our session was full of love and fun and laughter!

Here are some of my favorites!
