Breathtaking Virginia Beach Family Maternity Session

If you’ve been reading my blog for a bit now, you know my love for this incredible family!  They are so incredibly fun and Waverly is the best little firecracker who completely steals my heart every time as she comes into her personality and her pizazz more and more each time I see her!

Ashley and Joe are amazing parents!  They have so much love and so much patience!  They lead with their love and follow with fun and whimsy!  Ashley lets Waverly explore and encourages her independence and she is totally a go with the flow mama (which is something I crave to be!)  Ashley and Joe have this perfect balance between fun and grace and also walking that line of making sure their girls are also sweet and respectful and in line what their family rules are!  This is no easy task and they are beautiful at this!

Waverly is about to add a new role to her repitoire:  BIG SISTER!  Ashley has been blogging about it over on her side of things…Words about Waverly and I’ve been keeping up and laughing along!

When we started to chat about a session together and making sure it was a family maternity session, Ashley confessed to me that as a lover of pictures and fashion AND bonus.. a native to Virginia Beach;  she and Joe had never had their pictures actually taken on the beach!

WHAT?!

Now you all know how I feel about the ocean!  I love it and there is nothing like a great capture at the beach where the ocean and the sky start to mix those beautiful colors of blue!

We talked about a little more and she was finally convinced and ya’ll…. I wish I could have taken you all down there with us and kept you in my pocket!

It was the most fun!

Ashley, of course, was stunning and Waverly was perfection right behind her!

The best parts of this session though were those in between little moments!  The ones where Waverly was exploring and being herself, Ashley and Joe were frantically trying to reign her in (because let’s be honest we all try to do that with our 2 year olds but it never works).  Then Ashley and Joe would laugh because Waverly would just be Waverly and do something purely amazing and fun!

Those are the moments we LIVE for!

When our children teach us about how to live truly for the moment!

They forget about perfect and in turn so do we!

They forget that we are supposed to keep our dress clean or that the water might be cold!  So they rush in full steam ahead and with wild abandon laugh from their toes to their bellies with glee as they splash the ocean surf water all over everyone!

They run through the sand finding treasures and appreciating and marveling at the true beauty of feathers, shells and rocks!

And as they are just being themselves, we get to sit back and take it all in:  the amazing sky, the ocean air and crashing of waves and then our tiny little miracles who are teaching us to live once again!

I love how Waverly just briskly runs by Ashley in this next one!~  Real life!

We were able to steal Ashley and Joe to get some of the two of them alone with their newest little girl while she’s still cooking for a little while!
