Christmas Jammies, Milk and Mommy! | Megan and the Boys at Home Lifestyle Session

Oh my goodness ya’ll, my heart has been just bursting at the seams to share with you this adorable holiday christmas pajama, milk and mommy lifestyle session that I shot several weeks ago!  Megan and her boys are some of the absolute sweetest people in the whole wide world and I couldn’t have been more excited when we came up with this fun idea for an in home laid back morning session.  We wanted to capture the boys as they are right now and I think that’s exactly what we got, but I will let you guys be the judge!

I came over that morning and the boys were already all decked out in their holiday jammie best!  Megan had the coffee ready, which is of course my favorite (other than coca-cola and panera green tea) and we talked over exactly what we had planned to do!  We gathered up a few of the boys favorite holiday books and I made Megan change into her best jams and I met them in her incredible bedroom!  I wish I could tell you that it was perfectly calm and relaxed, but honestly I would be lying!  With two boys (as sweet as they are) and two glasses full of milk, you know they were ready for some entertainment and of course entertainment I provide!  I guess I should have warned Megan about that!  When I come to a session, I come prepared to play and I mean play!  We talked about all the Christmas magic, we jumped on the bed, we had tickle fights and I made the best boy noises I could possibly muster!  Megan joined in on the fun too!  We had a blast and it was a morning I will never forget.

I think that’s the best part about making connections as a mom and being a photographer and a mom!  When I see the connections through my lens of other mommas and their little ones it’s just indescribable for me!  I know just exactly how precious and how timeless these seconds and minutes are.  I know how these moments when these mamas see them reflected back to them no matter what they actually look like on the back of the camera or on the computer screen or even in print, I know what they look like and feel like in these mamas hearts!  They are enduring and they speak of something that just can’t be spoken but felt in a place that stirs within our souls!  It’s magical and it’s powerful and it’s emotional all wrapped up into this one tiny gut feeling!  I feel that too when I’m behind that lens clicking away!  It’s why to me, those perfect moments don’t matter so much as those moments that are raw and real and joyful!

Megan and Hudson and Nolan laughed a lot the morning of our session!  They laughed and the read together.  They fought a little as brothers do but they also helped one another and snuggled with each other.  They shared secrets together and built water slides and forts together!  They kissed their mom a lot and asked a million questions!  They shared a normal morning together as far as they knew, the only difference is now Megan has these moments frozen in time to visit any time she wants!
