HOW SOON SHOULD I BOOK MY FALL FAMILY PHOTOS| VIRGINIA BEACH FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER

This is a question I get asked A LOT ya’ll… like a lot a lot and honestly the short answer is NOW! As soon as you can!

If you’re looking for the perfect month to start asking your photographer to schedule yourself and your family for your FALL family session, it’s right now in AUGUST! Yes you read that right. Summer is the perfect time to start thinking about and scheduling your FALL family photos.

WHY?!

PICK YOUR OWN DATE!

I know this seems like a pretty easy answer but honestly we all have so much on our minds these days! Our families are super scheduled from summer camps, our own work hours, getting back to school supplies and just all of the things! Plus we get tied down with the every day things like grocery shopping and chores and getting caught up on insta… (I joke, but not really).

The summer goes by extremely fast and ya’ll I feel this like no other now that my kiddo is 9! I’ve moved from the stage of fun relaxed summer mom to uber driver mom and it’s a place of chaos and “I forgot this appointment” and oh my gosh I’m now running around like a chicken with. my head you know what.

The last thing we think about is what’s happening AFTER school starts!

BUT… speaking with my photographers hat on, our shooting schedule fills up quickly especially when children and family are your speciality!

You want to make sure that you get the prime spot first, especially if that means a weekend! You do that by booking your session right now in the summer months!

CHOOSE YOUR SESSION TYPE

Another reason to start thinking about your fall family session right now in the summer is to figure out what type of session you want to book!

Some photographers only offer mini sessions twice a year: Fall and Summer or Holiday sessions. These will fill up incredibly fast. If you are thinking you might want a mini session this year it’s best to go ahead and contact your photographer to ask them if they have plans to shoot mini’s and also put you on their radar that they would like to schedule one!

Maybe you are thinking of something a bit different or in a location outside of your local area! Booking in advance always helps your photographer create a date for you that works for everyone!

WEATHER

Oh weather, how we love you so! I love a great rainy/stormy day when I can just stay inside and curl up on the sofa and read a good book! Sometimes, those are my favorite days. However, rainy/stormy days and photography do not often get along. I guess it depends on the mood you are going for or the theme. I for sure shot in the rain before and it was amazing! That story is for another day.

I can imagine though that the last thing you want on the day you get your kids and your family dressed for your fall family photos hoping one will rock out your Christmas card is rain! Me too friend, me too! That’s why when you schedule a session with me, we always schedule a tentative rain date!

The sooner you schedule with me, the more rain dates we have to choose from! As we get deeper into fall, it gets a bit tricker and also the weather gets a bit more tempramental! We can work with most weather but having the option to use that rain date is always a really nice cushion!

TIME!

This is my favorite reason right here! The more time you have before your session, the more time we have to plan and talk with each other. We have time to talk about what your vision is for your family. We have the time to really work out where you might like to go so I can scout out the perfect location for your family.

We have the time to talk about the clothes for your family and what will make you feel the most comfortable and put together but also take away all the stress that comes with stepping in front of the camera.

With more time, I get to build a relationship with you so that when you show up on the day of your session, you all feel like your meeting a trusted friend rather than someone who is there for a minute and gone.

This is what I want most for you! I want you to laugh and feel comfortable. I want you to be YOU and I want to capture the natural, loving, real and raw relationship that you have with your family. That magic that exists there that only you have.

The best way I can do that is when you book your session ahead of time and we get to know each other!
